6/17/12, Quaker Ridge, 23.5mi, 3LFC, 1011.9, 101%

Passed my 1000 mile goal for the year before it was half over so am now setting a new one -- to get to 2000 miles by end of 2012. Almost didn't do it today because got a flat 1 mile from home, again in the rear tire. Patched three tubes but decided to get a fancy new rear tire at Pawling Cycle & Sport that is supposed to be very tough -- let's hope! Two flats in two rides after none for months was getting old. Quaker Hill was dreamily beautiful in the late afternoon sun. Saw two brown horses fighting each other.

6/10/12, Spooner Hill/Kent, 39.5mi, 3.5LFC, C988.4, 99%

Would've gone longer and probably would've crossed the 1000 mile mark, but had to change a flat in Kent and didn't want to risk getting even farther from home. Nice day, on the warm side. A little sore from digging in the garden yesterday. Pretty sure I saw Larry Hayes e-ing his way north on CT 7 as I was coming south.

6/3/12, Brooklyn loop, 46.0mi, 0LFC, C948.9, 95%

Great ride with Nick Werle around Brooklyn, from Prospect Heights to Park Slope to Bay Ridge to Coney Island to the Rockaways and back through E. New York, Brownsville, etc. Terrific arepas on the beach at Rockaway Park though we all almost got blown away (literally) by sudden high winds. Got caught in a little rain while far from any shelter on Cross Bay Boulevard in the wildlife refuge, and again in a short sunshower on Pacific nearing the end of the ride. 6/2/12, Pleasant Ridge-Wingdale, 25.7mi, 3LFC, C902.9, 90%

I must be getting in decent bike shape when a ~26 mile ride feels short, even with a lot of climbing. Legs are definitely getting stronger. Acquired new bike gloves to replace corroding ones on the way back.
