12/7/14, Wingdale, 20.5mi, 1c4, C2124

Cold late morning ride, sunny, freezing headwind for 1st 10 miles going north. Everything stayed warm enough except one part of my face and my feet, but tolerable.

11/23/14, Quaker Ridge, 22.7mi, 1c3, 1c4, 1c5, C2104

Late afternoon ride (well, if 2:00-4:00 counts as late; it was almost dark when I got back. Another set of big climbs, again the Defy feels really good but I wish I had a lower climbing gear. For the same effort as my old bike I get a lot more distance and speed, that's for sure.

11/1/14, 3 hills & a lake, 11.3mi, 3c5, C2024

First ride on new Giant Defy Advanced 2. It had good points and bad points. Good: comfortable and for sure faster up the hills when I wanted it -- easily broke the MMR record for 'Back of Mt Tom' at 5:52 which is 15 seconds faster than my previous fastest time on the Jamis and 11 seconds faster than the previous 'Fastest' time per MMR. Bad: Seat post kept collapsing downward, had to stop 3x to fix it. Also the easiest gear is at best the same, and possibly even a touch harder than the Jamis's easiest.

10/17/14, Village loop, 10.1mi, 1c3, C1923*

Glorious fall morning. First ride since France, back on the Jamis, felt fine. Bought a pedal wrench and put the Shimanos back on. Harmony Hill Rd./Mt. Tom combination as tough a climb for its distance as anything we encountered in France.

10/11/14, Col de l'Aire Dei Masco, 34.8mi, 1c3, C1913

One of the most enjoyable rides ever, up to a 696m pass in the Luberon, and we avoided rain somehow.

Great way to end the biking portion of the week in France.

10/10/14, Northern Luberon-Ocher route, 33mi, 2c5 , C1878

Parked at the Pont Julien and followed the Ocher route. Some nice areas but felt more wearying to both of us than many of our other rides this week, perhaps because of the wind. Or many smaller climbs.

MMR didn't unpause after Rustrel so this is to Foster's: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/556306710

10/9/14, Cabriere-Pepin, 34.8mi, 1c4, 1c5, C1845

Late afternoon ride after driving back from Bourg d'Oisans. Started getting dark so we cut it kind of short. Back on the Cannondale.

10/8/14, Col de la Croix de Fer, 34.8mi, 1c1, 1c2, 1c5 (really an HC), C1819

Memorable but difficult climb up to this pass in Savoie, tougher than Alpe d'Huez, colder and windier too. Started with a long steep ascent for 6km, then maybe 1km of relatively flat, then a descent, then 10km of steep climbing and yet more climbing after that. Total ascent of 6233.77 ft and maximum elevation of 6,775.2 ft. My MMR didn't unpause after the Col so below is from Foster's.

After this we decided we'd had enough of the Alps for this trip and decided to head back to Ansouis.
