9/30/12, Geer Mountain, 43.3mi, 3.5LFC, C1846.8, 185%

Beautiful early fall ride. Took a new variation up Segar Mountain Rd./Geer Mountain Rd. east of Kent - truly spectacular view from the top, beautiful countryside, long climb to get there. Got a few raindrops but not too many, then it got nice again. I needed the two layers/long sleeves, too cool (high 50s) for short sleeves and almost too cool for the shorts.

9/22/12, Patterson-Sherman-Wingdale, 36.6mi, 2.5LFC, C1730.2, 173%

Mostly grey day in upper 60s but a great ride. I passed a bunch of riders, many with birds or plumes on their heads, coming the other way on Haviland Hollow Rd., turned out they were on a Boston to NYC ride. The many climbs between HH Rd. and Sherman seemed a lot more tractable than I remembered from previous seasons, maybe because I expected them to be grueling and they weren't.

9/16/12, Kent loop, 39.4mi, 2.5LFC, C1693.6, 169%

A little on the cool side for summer biking gear when the sun went behind clouds, but otherwise another nearly perfect biking day. The Jeff Coursen Ride to Remember (about 100 motorcycles) went by me on Taber Rd. then I rode by it on North Quaker Hill Rd. Another great coffee and choc. croissant break at J. Gifford's in Kent CT.

Perfect day for a longer ride. Stopped for a break at the always high quality JP Gifford in Kent, very good gouda/chipotle scone and excellent coffee, unnecessary devil's food cookie.

9/1/12, Allegany-Olean NY, 0LFC, C1594.3, 159%

The unexpected pleasure of finding a very nice bike trail right outside of our hotel in Allegany, NY, across NY 417 from St. Bonaventure University. Broke a spoke on the way back unfortunately. Went around the trail twice then took back roads on the other side of the Allegheny River to Olean. Click for map
